One shots are great for creating novel and unique sounds, and have become a popular tool for producers (again). They are cheap, lightweight, simple, and most importantly they create unique, novel and ear grabbing sonic textures. The possibilities are limitless once you begin manipulating these raw files within your sampler, adding effects, layering, etc. It feels like every one shot inspires a new idea which is the main reason I love them.
